Massachusetts History Conference, 2008-
The premiere public history networking event in Massachusetts annually brings together people from more than a hundred public history organizations and groups, including small historical societies, library history rooms, National Park Service units, college and graduate education programs in public history and archival science, networks of organizations, historic houses, and any other public history-focused group one might imagine. Archivists, volunteers, students, museum guides, curators, fundraisers, exhibit specialists, and any other public history professional or volunteer you might think of gather in Worcester to meet, exchange ideas, fud out what their colelagiues are up to, and plan collaborative activities. It is collaboratively organized by and for a growing cast of professional and volunteer staff of historical organizations, independent professionals, and students in public history under the sponsoring umbrella of Mass Humanities, and from 2008 to 2016, I shepherded this growing annual service conference for Mass Humanities. Currently, I am working to transition the conference from the umbrella of Mass Humanities to that of the Massachusetts History Alliance, a network that was spearheaded by the team that organizes the conference, and whose main focus is public history. Fill out this form if you are interested in participating in or contributing to the conference.
